THE REGENTE HOTEL IN BENIDORM
THE REGENTE HOTEL IN BENIDORM
(Benidorm) The prestigious Institute of travel and tourism (ITT) congress was recently held in Benidorm. One of the speakers was the Executive Director, Steven Freudmann. He made the observation, that perhaps the most important hotels in Benidorm, are its 3 star establishments. Music to the ears of one of Benidorm’s most important hotel chains, The Med Playa group. They have a policy of keeping their 3 star hotels updated and modernized to the highest standards. We popped along to one of them recently, the 3 star ‘Hotel Regente’ run by the manager, Snr Pablo Villamediana with 25 years experience under his belt. Situated just a few minutes away from the beach but in a quiet area the hotel was totally renovated from top to bottom last year. At the moment it is the only one of the group in town, that is an “All inclusive” hotel. This means that when you book all your meals AND drinks are included in the price you pay on booking. (The bar is open continuously, from 10 am till midnight!) Pablo, the manager, proudly showed us around the brand new swimming pools (complete with adjoining Jacuzzis!) There were several spacious sunbathing terraces, which could be used all year round as they are sheltered from cool breezes. Pablo pointed out that the little ones hadn’t been neglected with their own specially designed pool/play area. It appeared that they had paid special attention to the kids, as the hotel has a HUGE indoor kid’s area which means that they can be out of the sun, but not bored, when the sun is at its strongest, a concern too many parents nowadays. Your roving reporter, by pure coincidence (if you believe that, you will believe anything dear reader!) happened to chance across the lovely dining area just as the breakfast was in full swing…Pablo explained that all meals are on a buffet basis and they specialise in a “full on” English breakfast. He invited me to try breakfast and I forced myself to wolf down eggs, bacon, omelet, sausages, toast and some fresh squeezed orange juice. (I love this job)! Chatting to some guests about what they particularly liked about ‘The Regente’ several answered that they enjoyed the live entertainment that was featured every single night of the week. There were certainly some well known names advertised! Since its total refurbishment last year the hotel has seen a surge in popularity. After going along for a “nose”, it was easy to see why! Pop along for yourselves for a look!
