High Speed Spain
High Speed Spain
(Benidorm)  The latest route on Spain’s high speed rail network has just been inaugurated by King Juan Carlos and the prime minister.

The Madrid to Valencia line, will now see travel times from these two cities down to around 1 ½ hours. This line will mean that Spain has over 2000Km of high speed track, more than any other European country and 3rd in the world behind China and Japan. The first passenger service started last month on December 19th. A single ticket is priced at 79.80, according to the president of Renfe, Teófilo Serrano.
The price of a single can drop as low as 31.90, thanks to offers that will be available online. A standard return ticket will cost 128 euros. The new service will cut the journey time between the two cities from three hours 20 minutes to just 95 minutes.
Hoteliers in Valencia are “over the moon”, and many are preparing packages of accommodation, and entrance tickets, to places such as the oceanographic park, to tempt visitors from Madrid and beyond. This is also great news for those of us who enjoy a weekend in Madrid either for shopping or to take in a show or sightsee.
The ministry of public works estimates that the mix of both business and visitor users will spend 237 million Euro in Valencia,   in the next year alone…….
Maybe we should all ask Santa for an “Ave” from Madrid to Benidorm?! For tickets go to;
