All change @ Terra Mitica
All change @ Terra Mitica
(Benidorm) Terra Mitica re-opened its doors to the public on April 16th and a massive 10,000 people flocked in to see first hand the changes that have taken place over the long winter months. Roundtown’s Michelle Baker was one of the first to pass through the doors and being an avid Terra Mitica fan was able to identify the subtle but meaningful changes. “There’s definitely plenty of Aqualand influence!” said Michelle. “Starting with the photo display boards immediately inside the door where the photos taken by the park photographers throughout the day are displayed to entice visitors leaving the park to part with a few more euros! No, but seriously, everything lloked a whole lot fresher and cleaner. The biggest change is to the gardens – they look spectacular! Lush green grass, hundreds of new trees providing plenty of much needed shade, surrounded by flower boxes and whole banks of brightly coloured flowers really add a lot of new colour to the park. “Also, there’s several brand new kiddy rides as soon as you get through the door which is great as it keeps the little ones happy straight away”. According to the Spanish press the company has invested a massive 7 millions euros in the park over the winter and are confident that their efforts will attract the target of 1 million visitors needed this summer for the park to make a profit for the first time since it opened more than a decade ago. President of the Aqualand group Georges Santa Maria informed local Spanish newspaper Noticias that their plan is to invest a further 8 million euros in the park to make it the best park in the Valencian Province. “We already have more rides than any other theme park in Europe” said Sr. Santa Maria “and we have increased the shows by 70% so there are now 30 side shows per day – one every 15 minutes, in different areas of the park. We have the best dancers and acrobats to entertain the visitors as they enjoy their time in the park”. Terra Mitica will also be open for 170 days this year showing an increase of 20% - great news for annual pass holders. “We had a great day,” concluded Michelle, “Everything was freshly painted, there were lots of new sign posts to indicate the way plus lots of new refreshment stops (15 apparantly) offering a wider selection of flavours – including a posh a la carte restaurant if you fancy it!” Terra Mitica theme park is located on the mountain behind Benidorm. Entrance costs 35€ for adults and 26.50€ for kids aged 5 to 10 years, under 5’s go free. Annual Passes Annual passes are available priced 49€ for adults (44€ if it’s a renewal from last year) and 35€ for kids. This is great value as you can use them as many times as you want. |
