Calle Gerona - a Pedestrians Only Zone?
Calle Gerona - a Pedestrians Only Zone?
(Benidorm)  Calle Gerona, the road that runs parallel to the the Mediteraneo, past the famous Benidorm "square" maybe being made pedestrians only.  Do you think this is a good idea or a bad idea?

Following a successful trial period, Benidorm’s Mayor and his team want to full pedestranise the Calle Gerona in Benidorm.
253202_250Calle Gerona runs parallel to the Avenida Mediterraneo from the Rincón right across the Avenida Europa and almost into the Old Town, bypassing popular landmarks such as John & Joseph’s, the famous ‘square’, the Yorkshire Pride and right up to India Gate.
The move comes after a successful trial period where, over the summer, the last stretch (India Gate end) was made a pedestrian zone every day after midday to create more of a laid back holiday atmosphere. That particular section is a popular dining area and to dine al fresco under the stars proved a real bonus for the restaurants over the hot summer.

Excellent news, Calle Gerona needs this boost, especially since the smoking ban. I look forward to it.

I think its a good idea for the holidaymakers but a bad idea for the residents who have to park their cars somewhere.

In my opinion it is irrelevent whether it is a good or bad idea the town council should be spending their, or our money, finishing off projects they have already started and then abandoned unfinished as in the case of the Casa de Cultura on the Avenida Europa.!!!!
