Fat Tax
Fat Tax
(Benidorm)  Ryanair recently urged passengers to use their vote in order to influence whether or not the airline should introduce a ‘fat tax’ for overweight passengers.  Ryanair received almost 100,000 votes and most passengers are calling for a charge for overweight passengers, while many are urging the re-introduction of smoking onboard.

The top five as voted by passenger so far are:
40% - excess fees for overweight passengers based on body mass index,
20% -  €3 to smoke in a converted toilet cubicle,
18% -  €1 for toilet paper – with O’Leary’s face on it,
14% -  annual subscription to access Ryanair.com,
8% - €2 “corkage” fee for passengers who bring their own food onboard.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:

“We are delighted with the number of votes and a little surprised with how the vote has gone Roundtown asked you what you thought of this new charge “I think it’s a good idea, said Dawn from Leeds. “I have to pay excess baggage if my case weighs more than 20 kilos but I only weigh 8 stone so if they charge someone heavier for their excess body weight that’s fair too”.
“I don’t agree with it” said Bill from Doncaster. “What will they think of next? There’s lots of inconveniences about flying but you just have to put up with them., its not all about money.  I’ve been on a flight with children crying or sat behind kicking the seat but I don’t expect the Mum to be fined for it”.
“Why should they make more money out of someone else’s discomfort? Says Cheryl from Liverpool. “If they’re going to charge they should give it to the person who is squeezed in next to the overweight person”.
