The nearest town to Benidorm, travelling north, is Albir and it’s easily accessed using the number 10 bus which costs 1.25 each way. Essentially a residential town, it’s gradually waking up to tourism with some half a dozen hotels.

 

Acknowledged as the Marbella of the Costa Blanca (with property prices to match!) it is home to many different nationalities all living in harmony and boasts an array of international cuisine at the many roadside restaurants.

Many of these residents are retired, so the town is heaving during the day, with lots of social gatherings and events but compared to Benidorm it’s very quiet at night. Unusual for these parts, it has a pebble beach flanked by a beautiful wide promenade and thanks to the wide bay, numerous water sports are enjoyed here, especially windsurfing, as the water is deeper, and the wind is stronger, giving bigger waves than Benidorm.
