The Benidorm Indoor Market
The Benidorm Indoor Market
(Benidorm)

Benidorm’s biggest indoor attraction, the indoor market is in the Rincon (located in the new town) area.

The indoor market is a complete mix of Spanish and English shops and stalls huddled together in a colourful and vibrant mixture of commerce and culture.

A visit to this unique and somewhat unusual tourist attraction is just what is needed if you have had a little, or a lot, too much sun.  The sometimes-welcome respite from the harsh rays can also be a refuge on the odd occasion when one of the summer rain storms strike.

Natalie’s Gift Shop is a positive ‘cornucopia’ of kitsch, class and curios.  Natalie is one of the youngest traders in the market but no less enthusiastic because of it.  She came to Spain aged 17 with her parents and decided to set up shop for herself in September 2007.   Natalie describes her shop as a treasure trove full of unique and unusual jewellery and personalised gifts for men and women at reasonable prices.  Many of her products originate from India and it is this that gives it the splash of colour.

Nearby is ‘The Hairdresser’, which is owned and run by Neville, a resident in Spain for more than six years now.  Originally from the Lincoln area, Neville decided to transfer his hairdressing business to Spain because, “I like the weather better here.”  Neville’s shop is not just for the ladies, the traditional barbers pole outside indicates the men too can sit down and relax for a ‘short back & sides’.   If you would like an appointment just call 637 161 475 and a friendly English voice will assist you.

Just next door, Neville’s wife Yvonne runs the ‘Browse Awhile’ bookshop.  Yvonne admits the transition from the UK to Spain was not simple but certainly worth the effort.  She said, “It takes a little while to adapt here but the whole point is to try something different and enjoy the experience of an alternative culture.”  Yvonne offers new books of course but also, you can pay a coupe of euros to read and return the book of your choice.  Also on sale are crossword and puzzle books together with a whole host of children’s colouring and educational books.  The bookshop also seems to serve a tourist information centre.  Because of Yvonne’s wide knowledge and network of friends she is often seen helping strangers on holiday to gain maximum enjoyment.

Another essential service is provided by Salvador the Butcher.  Salvador and his business partner Craig have joined together to create an international flavour for the benefit of their customers.  This is a genuine old fashion butchers shop where you can have a chat and a laugh whilst at the same time select just the right item for your needs at the best possible price.  Everything sold here is processed by the locally.  One of their biggest sellers is their hand-made finest quality sausage with no preservatives and oodles of flavour.

Wandering up and down the aisles of the market, you will always discover something new or different.  Businesses come and go and with that change comes fresh new attitudes and enthusiasm.  Copy Cats is the place to find all your stationery needs.  Here you will find loads of ‘knick knacks’ and a huge selection of cards for every occasion.  As in the majority of the shops in the market, staff at Copy Cats will be only to pleased to help of assist and add to your holiday enjoyment.

The indoor market is located just opposite the Hotel Nereo or just a short stroll along the road from the Hotel Sol Pelicanos/Orcas.
