Benidorm is a very safe resort, however like all busy areas in the world today it does have its share of petty street crime, such as bag snatching etc. Just take simple precautions and you will be fine. However if you are unfortunate enough to experience a crime the emergency number is 112, but only to be called if an incident is taking place at that very moment. For all other  reporting visit the Benidorm Police Station. The British consulate is based in the centre of Alicante city, however they are not a help line service, and if your problem is petty expect to wait. Only go to them in case of a dire emergency, ie, new passport, deaths, etc. Do not go to them asking for money to get you home to the UK.
